RAGNAR Ambassador Application
If you're from the Ragnar Ambassador selection committee, please know that even though I haven't blogged on this site in quite some time, I fully intend to blog about my adventures as a Ragnar Ambassador. Blog posts will also be shared on the RunFit Facebook page, my personal Facebook page (where I have connections to many fitness groups), and (if I can figure it out) on the RunFit Meetup.com side (currently 266 members).
Thanks for taking the time to read this!!!!

Christmas Light Run
Is anyone interested in running at night one night next week? I though we could run up Kachina (by Equestrian). The lights on that street are incredible!

Tucson Marathon Success
Sunday was a tough day for many of us down in Tucson. The marathoners were blown around by gusting winds starting at mile 13. If you haven't already done so, you might want to give Denise, Will, Richard, Hollie, Suzanne and Kara a pat on the back for a job well done!
Michelle and I did the half and were lucky enough to finish before the wind picked up. We both had great races and were happy to cheer for the rest of our runners as they made the final turn toward the finish line.
My favorite part of this event (besides crossing the finish line) was traveling as a group. We had a big dinner together and watched a couple of movies. I'd like to do another travel event later this year. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Shirt Update
I received the Rockin' Refuel logo file from Shamrock Farms on Monday. I ordered some long-sleeved shirts from Target.com on Tuesday. I'm hoping to get all the shirts to the printer next week (eww, could be bad timing with Christmas). As soon as they're ready, I'll let you all know. Thanks so much for your patience!

RunFit Shirts
In case you didn't see the email I sent out, Shamrock Farms has generously agreed to give us $500 toward our RunFit shirts. Awesome!!! I am still waiting for the logo file from my contact. Unfortunately, that means we won't have shirts in time for the Tucson events this weekend. I'll get them as soon as I can!
Las Vegas and Fiesta Bowl Half Marathons
We had quite a few runners participating in Sunday's events. I know there were some PR's set! How about if you tell us about your races? You can add a comment (below) to do your race report or you can send it to me by email (runfit@cox.net).

Tucson Marathon Update
Less than two weeks left until the Tucson events! Denise, Kara, Will, Hollie and I went down to Tucson Saturday and braved the wind to run the first 13 miles of the revised course. (Okay, some of you may have done more than 13.) Having done the course when Biosphere Road was included, I have to say even though there are rolling hills in the first 8 or 9 miles, it's nice to have them out of the way early.
If you're doing the marathon, you should be tapering. Please be sure to confirm your room with Denise if you're staying in the villas.
The relay team never panned out. I really thought we were going to have a team this year. Maybe next time!

Mesa Mi Amigos Turkey Trot
We had four (or more?) runners at the Mesa Mi Amigos Turkey Trot - Kim, Kara, Will, and Richard. All of the set either course PRs or 10k PRs. Congratulations everyone!

Dean Is an Ironman!
Dean did an absolutely incredible job at his first Ironman event. Despite the permanently broken clavicle (is there a more accurate way to describe this Kim?), Dean finished in 12:03:33! Here's a video of him crossing the finish line:
Congratulations Dean! You are truly an Ironman!!!!

Another Busy Weekend for RunFit Members!
Wow! What a weekend!
It all started with Michelle and Melody doing the Seven Summit Challenge. Seven summits in one day! They hiked Papago, Camelback, Piestewa Peak, South Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Shaw Butte, and North Mountain. Whew!! It makes me tired thinking about it.
Then on Saturday, Anne, Denise, Melissa, and Janet did the Four Summit Challenge. They did Papago, Lookout, Shaw Butte, and North Mountain. From the pictures it looks like they had a lot of fun!
The Iron Girl 5k and 10-Mile events were on Sunday. As far as I know, I was the sole representative on RunFit at the 5k. The 10-Miler was a different story. We had Jacque, Laura, Kim and Melody running this event. Jacque came in right on target and Kim finished ahead of her goal time with an average of 8:57/mile!
Congratulations to all who finished their events this weekend. If I missed anyone, please let me know.
Now for this week... We're back at the Corona del Sol track Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. and at Walgreen's (Ray/Kyrene) Thursday morning at 5:30. Thursday's route will be changing so we won't be running on uneven terrain in the dark. It's just too dangerous, especially when you're trying to get the tempo portion of a run in. We were supposed to meet at the Farm at South Mountain Saturday morning. There are some less-than-desirable neighborhoods in that area. So instead, I think we should meet at the South Mountain Ranger Station (map). Those who are training for Tucson can run part of San Juan Road and then head out to the canal for the remainder of the 20 miles. We can all meet at The Farm after.

RunFit News - November 9 through 15
It's been a fairly quiet week for RunFit. We had our regular track work and tempo/social runs, plus a run starting from The Breakfast Club on Saturday. I was sorry to miss the start, but I was able to run 12 miles with Denise as part of her 18-miler. She was awesome! I couldn't keep up with her at the end! Denise has a 20-miler in a couple of weeks, so we'll probably come up with a way for all of us to take turns running with her.
This weekend is another busy one. We're doing hill repeats Tuesday morning (see This Week's Activities on the right) and our usual run on Thursday morning. Then we have quite a few of our runners doing the Phoenix Summit Challenge on Friday or Saturday. Then there's the Run from the Sun Half/5k on Saturday and the Aflac Iron Girl 10-Mile and 5k on Sunday. The weather should be perfect for all of these events. If you're not doing any of these, join us for a run starting at Kiwanis Park (map on the right under This Week's Activities) Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m.
Have a great week everyone!
